Therapist. Educator. Writer. Creator.
Hey, I'm Elyce
I'm a licensed therapist who's spent over a decade sitting with people through some of their hardest, most vulnerable moments - and I am so, so, so grateful for it. There's something pretty damn beautiful about being trusted with people's stories.
After losing my own mom to suicide when I was a kid, I often say that this work found me. If I hadn't had that experience, I'm not sure I would be sitting here today doing the work I am doing. Yet, here I am. Through a lot of grief, dark-humor, life-experience, community support, and therapy, I can confidently say this -
Suicide is NOT a bad word.
And, I LOVE talking about it. Like, as casually and openly as if I was chatting with you about what I had for dinner last night. I love supporting suicide loss survivors through their experience, I love getting to help others get more comfy talking about suicide so they can play a part in preventing loss, and I love the opportunity to feel and give empathy to those who are struggling.
The more comfortable we become having hard conversations and the more we can empathize with others - the more space we create for people to feel less alone with what they're carrying.
That kind of connection and belonging can save lives.
